You are right on that; there is certainly a transition in the text starting in verse 22. I am going a little slow through this passage to soak it all in, especially with verse 16

To me Ryan, from John 3:1 to John 3:21 is in context because most of it is the conversation Jesus has with Nicodemus.

Eugene, thanks for taking a minute to comment. John 3 is certainly an amazing chapter from beginning to end. You are right on including John 3:17 with John 3:16, I just haven't gotten that far in our study just yet. Context is always important to understanding the Bible. We will be there in the next few Sunday's, Lord willing.

I taught John 3: 1-21 not too long ago to the High school age group & it was an enlightening chapter.
My thoughts is this:
I believe that we need to realize that not only are we born into a world of sin but that we all sin through out our lives & not untill we repent of our sins, ask God for forgiveness & accept Jesus as our savior & redeemer & make not only a physical effort but have the faith in the holy spirit to make the changes in your present life, to let God guide you with his spirit will you see the glory of God.

In that passage I think that we need to include John 3:17 with the better known John 3:16..

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

You are so kind. Message me your domain for your blog so I can keep posted. thank you for the constant prayers as you pass by. Keeping you in prayer and your recovery during this "silent" time. This is certainly an experience you should document in the form of a blog. As for $5, sure but for me to post on your blog I will need $5 per sentence. Actually, you may pay me to not comment on your blog. Stay in touch.

I love that you are tackling what could be controversial topics with wisdom, Biblical principle, and a good dose of humor (however your humor is watered down to 9 percent dry 1 percent LOL) Keep it up man...keep writing these great blogs. One concern I have...I was sipping late when we used to meet at Coffee with a Caus, does that make me trendy? Yeah buddy! LOL
Your trendy late sipping pastor friend,
Adam

Hey Flanders, for a $5 donation to our church I will leave a reply! LOL Hey man, good post. I am enjoying your blog brother. Good stuff. I have one going called a Monks Musings. It's basically what God is showing me over these 90 days of silence I medically have to take. I miss you brother and getting together. Can't wait to get the go ahead to talk again so we can get back to breakfast chats! Praying for you and your ministry every time I drive by your church.

You are right Eugene "for the most part I think God's people are givers." I think fundraising is a way to bring that gift and compassion out of Christians with a little extra incentive that makes it fun. Should we need that extra incentive? probably not, but it's fun. I just think we need to be careful of marketing our fundraising to where those outside the church become the target of supporting the church's mission financially.
