Which Translation?

With the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible being recognized this year we have spent some time on Sunday evenings this past winter discussing how we received our Bible and the differences in translations today. This has been an excellent platform to discuss several issues that are often misrepresented.  It is my belief based on Scripture that God’s Truth is Eternal, but languages change. Unfortunately some have taught that to update a translation is to change God’s Word. This is simply not true.  If translations are not updated they will soon lose precision in communicating the truth which is eternal.  Updates to translations are not always improvements but in some cases they truly are. Where will you be this Sunday?

Do you ever find yourself showing up at church and wondering “where is everyone at today?”  Church statistics tell us that on any given Sunday more than a third of the church is missing. This obviously is not good for the health, fellowship, worship and mission of the church.  We know that life happens, sickness rears its ugly head up and we travel from time to time. But 30% of us gone each week?  Many times we just find something else that “seems” to be more pressing or more important to do.  So why should we worship weekly and make worship a top priority?
